Rotary Club of Wednesbury's
Wednesbury Rotary meets on a Thursday evening
at 6.15pm for 6.45pm
Club meetings usually include a three course meal, usually followed by a speaker. If you see something in the Club diary that interests you and you would like to join us for that evening, then please contact the secretary.
Many social and fun activities are arranged by and for the members. These include meals, dances, race nights and many more. See the Club diary for all the information. Rotary is a dual gender organisation. The Wednesbury Club is very much a "doing" Club with a varied and very active programme.
Membership is by invitation. If you are interested in having fun and helping others, more details can be had by phoning the Secretary or the Web site. Just a phone call is all it takes, then come along to see what we do. The meetings last about 2 hours. You will be welcomed.
The Rotary Club of Wednesbury
is involved with many activities, locally, nationally and internationally.
Locally the Club organises the Town Carnival on the second Saturday of July each year. Organisations are invited to rent a stall at the Carnival and keep the money collected. There will be a fancy dress procession at the park, and your organisation is welcome to join in.
Contact the organiser John Jones 07766 227228 or see
Carnival pages with photographs of the last Carnival fun and games.
The Club is proud to have initiated an Interact Club at Stuart Bathurst and Wood Green High Schools. We are also associated with the Arts Festival, which involves all the schools in Wednesbury.
Nationally, we take part in the collection of used spectacles. So far, over 2000 pairs have been sent for renovation, usually through HM Prison service, for onward transmission to third world countries.
Internationally, we are involved with the Rotary Club of Trivandrum Suburban in India and have built 20,000 ltr water storage tanks in nine local villages.
We have raised over £3000 for the Wheelchair Foundation.
We are currently looking at possible help for a small charity called ACES which helps 3 students to train for a profession in the Phillipines. http://www.acescharity.co.ukIt goes without saying that Rotary is a registered charity. In December each year, the club visits every street in Wednesbury with our
Father Christmas Sleigh, collecting money for local charities.
Information on these and other fund raising/charity activities is readily available.
All you have to do is ask.
